USING THE ADOBE DNG CONVERTER
If you have successfully imported your images from your camera to your computer using Adobe Bridge, but you cannot see a thumbnail of your photograph, then you will need to convert your camera's native RAW file to a DNG.
The reason that this is happening is likely because the older version of Adobe software you are using cannot support your newer camera's proprietary RAW file format. When this occurs, you must use the Adobe DNG Converter to convert your files to DNG (Digital Negative), a universal and backwards compatible file format that allows older versions of image editing software to read newer files.
You must follow the steps to convert your RAW files to DNG EVERY TIME you import your images.

To locate the Adobe DNG Converter, open Finder and navigate to the Applications folder. Double click the icon and the converter will load.
Locate the icon for the Adobe DNG Converter in your computer's dock at the bottom of the screen. Right click (option+click) on the icon, choose Options, and choose Keep in Dock. This will keep the application's icon in the dock from now on, so that you can open it quickly and easily in the future.
Once the DNG Converter opens, you must select the folder containing the images you want to convert. Choose Select Folder and locate your image files that need to be converted. You must select the entire folder that contains these files. Please note that if you have RAW files in more than one folder that need to be converted, you will have to select each folder individually.
Next, go to number 4 under Preferences. Click on Change Preferences.

Choose Camera Raw 6.6 and later. Check Embed Original Raw File. Click OK. Then choose Convert.
This will convert your RAW files to DNG in the same folder. Once everything is converted, choose Quit.

You may now delete the native RAW files from your flash drive or computer (CR2 for Canon, NEF for Nikon). Because you chose to Embed the Original Raw File within the DNG Converter dialogue box, your RAW files are embedded in the converted DNG file.
Now you have successfully converted your camera RAW files to DNG! Hooray!
