This image is of a girl revealing whats underneath her shirt. Underneath her shirt are a bunch of rusty gears. The colors in this image are green and pink. The lighting in this image is all natural. The only part of the girls face that is showing is her mouth.
The image has a perfect amount of exposure. Everything in the photo is in focus. The colors are correct. There is no pixelation in the photograph. The photo has adequate resolution.
It is a aesthetically pleasing to look at. The rule of thirds is not being used and was shot from a birds eye perspective. The focal point are the gears under her shirt and it is framed by her blouse. The subject fills most of the frame.
I think the theme of this image is emotions. I think the story being told is she's dealing with a lot of emotions and they all make up who she is. The artist may have made this image because she relates to it. This image reminds me of myself. I believe the image is beautiful and noteworthy .

This photo shows a woman in a pink and white dress laying on the ground. The women has opened her dress with a key to reveal that inside her body there are gears. She is laying on grass very peacefully. The colors that the photographer is using are white, pink, green and brown. The lighting is bright with some shadows in the background of the photo.

The image is perfectly exposed with the colors of the grass in the background visible and not too dark. The image is in focus. The colors are correct. The colors are portrayed as duller even though they are correct. There is no pixilation.

The image is pleasing to look at because of all the colors that blend well together. The photographer does no use the rule of thirds. The vocal point is in the middle of the photo. The photo was taken in birds eye view. There is no depth of field being used because all of the photo is in focus. This photo is not framed. The subject fills most of the page but leaves room for the grass the woman is laying on.

The ideas of the image are that there is more to the story than just what is on the outside. Sometimes you have to dig a little deeper to find the truth, some things might be locked away. This image reminds me of one of my dolls as a child because they had the same color dress. This image is very beautiful because the colors congrats well together. I like this photo because of the soft colors and the message behind it.

This image shows a young woman that appears to be young (early 20's, maybe) pulling open the top of her dress. Underneath the dress, a full set of rusted gears can be seen. The woman appears to be on top of some sort of grass, maybe on the ground in the woods. The woman also appears to be holding a key in her hand. The colors in the photograph are very vibrant and bright. The lighting seems to be done by natural, outdoor light. The image looks perfectly exposed-- it isn't to bright, and it isn't too dark.

The image is completely in focus-- nothing appears to be blurry. The colors are correct, and the whites appear very white (such as the white detailing on her dress.) The resolution appears adequate, and nothing is blurry or pixelated. This image is very pleasing to look at because of how the colors appear. They are very bright, vibrant, and easy to see, with the exception of the rusted gears. The rule of thirds is not being used in this picture. The subject, the woman, is directly in the center of the photo instead of slightly off-center.

The point of view being used is from above the woman, and the photographer seemed to have taken the photo directly above her without an off-to-the-side angle. The focal point is the woman, and she is framed by the grass and leaves surrounding her. The frame crops off the woman's face other than her mouth, and it also cuts off below her waist. The lines of the woman's dress direct your eyes to the gears in the middle of her chest. The focal point does not completely fill the image, and the grass and leaves surrounding the subject could be considered as the negative space. This image is asymmetrical-- it would not be even if you were to split it in half.

I believe this image portrays how most people are "manufactured" to act a certain way. With the pressure of society many people are conditioned to act just how others want them to, almost robotic. This would describe the gears and machinery within the girl. This image definitely reminds me of the pressure that almost everybody feels to be perfect. I think the artist is trying to use this photo to show that even the prettiest, most perfect seeming people may feel the same pressure to be a certain way as everybody else does. I believe the photographer was successful in portraying her message, because the way that she did it was very clear and obvious.

This image is of a young girl in a pink blouse. She is opening her middle part of her of her blouse. She is also holding her key and there is a lock on one of the metal gears on her chest. The background of the photo is leaves from maybe a bush or shrub. The lighting is mainly dark areas around the girl but is highlighted once the girl is visible.
The image is sort of underexposed around the girl but she is not. The seams on the girls shirt direct you towards the gears in her chest. The coloring in the photo is correct for the most part. This photo is very pleasing to look at. The rule of thirds method is not used in the photo, as she is in the middle of the photo. The photographer took this photo from a bird's eye view.
This photo is not framed as the leaves are growing behind her. The image is balanced as she is directly in the middle of the photo. The girl fills up the photo for the most part, except for the occasional leaves growing behind her. The theme of this image is the girl's heart is like a gear.
The story of the image is probably of a relationship that was broken and she has locked her heart away, and now she is unlocking it. When I first looked at this image, it reminded me of a SteamPunk kinda detail with the gears. Personally, I like the photo. I think that if anyone is interested in photos with meaning and beauty inside, they would love this photo.

This image shows a woman in a pink dress with lace. She has unbuttoned her dress and instead of seeing skin we see rusty gears. The back ground of the photograph shows green leaves, probably from a bush. The pink colors are very vibrant compared to the dark shadowy green. The image includes a key in the woman's hand. There is also a lock where the heart should be that looks like the key fits in. The woman hands are very crusty looking probably from holding the key.

The image is perfectly exposed. It is both light and dark in the right places. There is no pixelation in the photograph and everything is perfectly clear. The rule of thirds is not being used because the woman takes up almost the entire image and the important gears and key are not in the intersections. The seams in the woman's dress are acting as lines that direct you eyes to the woman's hands.

The theme that the artist is trying to show is the idea that you shouldn't judge by what is seen on the surface. If the woman's dress wasn't unbuttoned i would think that everything was perfect in her life because of her beauty. However, you now see the on the inside this girl is hurt and rusty. This image starts out as beautiful but as soon as you look at the details the image becomes very intriguing. The photograph makes we wonder what I don't understand about others.

I love this photograph because is gives me something to think about. It doesn't go so far as to challenge my beliefs, but it makes me wonder about the things i don't understand. I would understand if people don't like this image because it creates an alternate understanding of people that some might not be comfortable with. I believe this photograph os successful because it draws the eye and leaves you in awe. This image is very beautiful and creates an alternate mindset for the viewer to think in.

This image is of a girl lying down in nature holding her chest. Her chest is made up of machinery. The girl's face looks a little distraught. The coloring is that the nature is dark and the girl's dress is pink. The lighting is underexposed with dark shadows.

The image is in focus and the coloring is correct. No, there is no pixelation in this photo. The photo is pleasing to look at because it's a really strange piece of artwork. The rule of this isn't being used because the girl is in the center. The focal point of this photograph is the girl and her chest.

The subject doesn't fill up the whole frame. The perspective of this photo is bird's eye. The image is framed by dark leaves. The dress has really intricate designs on it. The image does crop off.

The idea of this image is that the girl wants to express the way her body looks. This reminds me of a dress that I used to have. It also reminds me of a book I once read that had a main character that was described like that. I like this image because it is a pretty strange photograph. The image is successful because the artist portrays a young girl that loves her body.

The image is of a girl who has the top of her dress opened to reveal some sort of machine system. The colors that are used are light and dark because of the light pink dress and the dark green plants. The lighting in the image has dark shadows. A girl and a plant filled ground are involved in the image. A girl is opening the top of her dress and is holding a key in her hand maybe to signify that you need a key to access her heart.

The image is underexposed because it looks a little dark. The image is in focus because your eye is drawn to the girl lying on the ground. The color seems to be correct. There is no pixelation because the image is clear and isn't grainy. The image isn't pleasing to look at because she doesn't look normal because she has different machines replacing her chest.

The rule of thirds isn't being used because the girl is in the center of the frame. The photographer took the photo from above the girl. A shallow depth of field is being used. The subject doesn't fill the frame because you can see the plants as extra space in the background. The frame crops off the rest of the plants surrounding the girl.

The theme of this image represents how a person's body is constantly working like machine. The story is that this girl wants to kill herself so she decides to open her body with a key. This image reminds me of the movie "Pirates in the Caribbean" because a girl in the movie wears a similar dress to the one the girl in this image is wearing. The image is both interesting and beautiful because its different than a lot of photos of people. I like this photo because it makes you think about why the photographer took this image.

The image above is of a girl in a dress with the interior of a clock on her chest. She is laying in a field with dark light around her and the only significant amount of color is the pink of her dress. The lighting is somewhat bright on her chest and the area around her chest with the clock interior. The girl is in a simple position laying down with a key in her hand against her chest.
The photo above seems to be perfectly exposed and seems to be darker around the edges and brighter on the girl. The photo is in perfect focus and the photo isn't too bright. The white colors in the photo seem to have a yellow undertone to them. No pixelation is seen in the photo.
The photo is overall pleasing to look at because it makes me question the theme. Rule of thirds isn't seen in the photo because the subject of focus is in the center. The point of view is a birds eye view and the angle of the photo is taken from above. The lines and lace in her dress direct us to look at the center of her chest at what seems to be a clock interior. The dress is symmetrical and the buttons along to center of her dress lead us to look at the "many machines" in her. The frame is filled and very little space is filled on the edges, the plants below her. The space is overall positive and it a great photo. The photo might be giving the viewer an idea that life can be "routine". Sometimes people get caught up in a cycle and do the same thing over and over. The story or theme of the photo is being told through the subject of focus. The artist maybe took this photo to implement an idea in the viewers head maybe to she that the interior is time. The theme being time shows that life can't be forever or that you don't or do have all the time in the world to do something. The image reminds me of some lace socks I used to have when I was a kid because of the sleeves of her dress. The image makes me question the ultimate theme of the photo. The photo is overall very interesting and quite pleasing to look at.
To conclude, I like the photo and think that photo is interesting and it makes me feel calm. Looking at the photo makes me feel like I have time to think. The photograph seems like it's successful and I feel like I've seen this photo somewhere on the internet like tumblr or instagram.

The photograph taken by Heather Evans Smith shows a young, teenage girl laying on the floor with her hands on her chest. She is wearing a pink, vintage, dress with white crochet detailing on the sleeves and the top half of the dress. Her head is facing the side with her hair flowing on the grass. She is laying on the grass showing her pain. There are also raindrops on her dress. Her dress is opened up and there are gears under her dress and her fingertips are full of grease and rust and in her left hand, she is holding a key.

The photograph shows the girl to be exposed correctly, but the background and her hair is underexposed. The photograph is also in perfect focus and is not blurry at all. The coloring on the dress is not bright but in comparison to everything else in the photograph, it definitely stands out. Her hair and the grass she is laying on is very dark and the colors on her hair don't show very well. The photograph also has correct pixilation and the quality of the photograph is great as well.

The photograph is very pleasing to look at because of the detail and the intricate accuracy in design. The photograph is taken in birds-eye view cutting off more than half of the teenager's face. The photograph is darker in the left dos corner than any of the other corners showing the darkness of her hair and also showing that most of her hair is on the right side of her body. The positive area in the photograph is the girl and the negative would be the surrounding corners. Although she is the center of the photograph, her dress opening into gears, is definitely the center and the focal point the photographer wanted the viewer to look at.

The idea of the photograph is that we are trapped inside our bodies and our bodies are just gears that help us function and we are nothing more than that. We live and we are trapped in our bodies and this photograph shows that we are nothing more that. Although this photograph doesn't remind me of anything I've experienced in my life; I can definitely relate to the story the photographer is trying to portray. In my opinion, this photograph is beautiful and has so much meaning to get someone thinking

This image is of a teenage girl laying on the grass in a vintage prink dress with water drops on her. Inside her are gears and she is holding a key .The lighting has dark shadows around her body. The girl seems to be suffering from the gears inside of her. The image shows only half of her face to her hips.
This image is not under-exposed. This image is focused. The colors such as the whites are correct. They are a marshmallow white and not an off-white. There is no pixelation.
This image is pleasing to look at because of the details being used. The positioning of her hands and the amount of hope much of the gears being shown is just perfect. The point of view is birds eye view. The focal point are the gears inside her chest. This image is balanced. The negative space in the photograph is on the outside of the girl. The positive space is the girl. The girl is full of color and she is not dark.
I can not tell if there is a story being told, but if i had to guess, it is a girl that is suffering from a heart problem and is using rusty gears as an expression that her heart is failing to work. This image does not remind me of anything. I can not relate to this image. This image is interesting to look at, because many thoughts comes to my mind and makes me wondering what is happening to this girl. I do like this image and believe that this image is successful. This image does fulfill the requirements to me in order of success .

The photo above shows a girl possibly a young adult or a teenager mouth down, in a pink dress. This dress is beautiful with pink chiffon and white lace, in a very old ad vintage style. She is laying on the ground with green leaves with her brown wavy hair tousled next to her. The dress is slightly unbuttoned revealing metal working parts. These resemble something of the interior of a clock. Her hands that are opening her dress are dirty at the tips, almost as if she has been touching these rusty parts. She is holding a rusty key that presumingly can work these mechanics.

The photographs seems to have been shot outside with natural lighting. However, the photo seems to have a dark aura that doesn't take away from the overall quality of the photo. The contrast is relatively high making the color in the picture really pop. The photograph is adequately focused. Also, either the lace is off-white or the photograph is slightly yellow tinted. The resolution here is also very good.

For some reason, this photograph makes me think of a wind up doll. They look very pristine and delicate on the outside, but are being run on rusty metal parts that aren't that glorious. Also, there isn't much more to them and you just keep winding them up over and over again. The photographer may want to portray the girl being trapped in a cycle, and having moving parts that only perform certain actions. She is like a machine that cannot do anything other than the actions it was programmed to do.

I personally love this photograph because the subject really appeals to me and pleases my eye. I always find myself enjoying the beauty vs ruggedness and finding darkness in attractive materialistic things. I also like the way the photo was edited and the way the contrasted colors compliment each other. There are bright colors in this photograph while still maintaining to convey a darkness in the message. I think that the photograph is successful in this way of achieving this unique feat.

The image shows a woman in an old-fashioned pink dress with white details laying down on top of some plants. The background looks very dark, while the subject has some lighting on her. The woman is shown unbuttoning her dress, with rusted metal mechanisms and gears inside her chest. There is a rusted lock where the heart would be, and the woman is holding a key in her left hand. The chin and the mouth of the woman are the only facial features shown.
The image might be a tiny bit underexposed to display a darker kind of mood. The whites seem to be a bit dark, and yellowish, so there might have been some color correction. It has pretty good resolution, and it was staged.
The image seems to have a semi-shallow, semi-deep depth of field. The subject is center, and it is quite pleasing to look at. The photographer shot the image with a birds-eye point of view. The image also seems to be quite symmetrical. There is little space besides the subject (shows the plants on the sides). The image chops up most of the subject's face and everything below her waist.
This image might represent how she likes to keep her heart locked up, and will only give the key to specific people. This means that you need to earn her love in a way. The photographer might be trying to promote the idea of keeping your heart open to specific people who deserve to have the key. The image is quite interesting because it leaves behind a lot of questions about the woman's backstory. The way the mechanics are all rusty, and the way the face is not shown brings more mystery to the image. Quite interesting.
I like the image because of its mystery creativity. It is very different from any other image I have seen. It successfully portrays the idea of a locked heart and does so in a creative, and easily perceptible way.

This photo is a little under exposed. It has a deep depth of field. The photo is in focus. This was shot with a low ISO. Used a low aperture.
This photo shows a woman in a a pink dress. The dress has white highlights. The woman has a key in her hand. There is a lock and gears on her chest. She is holding a key.
The photo is showing that she has the key to her heart. That means that she loves no one else. She is standing in front of a hedge or bush. Her dress has stains on her left side. She is looking to her left.
I do not like this picture. This photo seems dark and gloomy. I feel the photo fits the vibes that it gives off. This photo looks like it was shot in the late 1900's. The way that she is holing open her shirt reminds me of Superman.

The image depicts a young girl's upper body. She is wearing a cute pink dress that looks from a distant past era. She is she looks as though she is unbuttoning her dress, but instead of her skin, a rotten and worn out clockwork system is depicted. Also, instead of her heart, and old unkempt locket is found. She is hold the key to her heart on her left hand. I feel as though the girl is dead or dying. I don't know if this is because of the pale and dirty look of her hand, which jut happen to be the closest visible skin near her rusty insides.

For the most part, the pink is a soft warm color, but the background is more of a cool green color. Both the dark green and the pink have tone variation and the clipping in photoshop was well done (if there was any). Due to the picture's look I can tell that it was most likely set up with professional lightning at a studio. So the picture is naturally well exposed. The picture has good resolution an has no pixelation. Because everything seems to be in focus, I can say that the picture has a deep depth of field. This picture is made from a bird's eye view, and I think this is the variable that makes the exposure pleasing to look at. Maybe its exceptional symmetry is what makes the picture so pleasing to look at. The subject of the picture perfectly fits the frame. What I love about it is that by not being ale to look at the girl's eyes, the beholder is able to create their own narrative behind it. I think she's dead.

The image is a mix between bright sunlight and dark sunlight. The image uses very loving colors, or colors that might express love. The image has gears, cogs, springs, and screws. You can see half of the girl's face, her chin to the bottom of her nose. What is happening in the image is that a girl has unlocked her chest with a key revealing that she is a robot.

The image is a mix between underexposed and overexposed with a hint of overexposed in some parts of the image. The image is in focus there is no blur in the image. The color of the image seems to be good, but the white on the girls shirt seems to be a little yellow. The image has no pixelation, and the image has good resolution.

The image is pleasant to look at because it has a meaning that we are all the same inside we may be different on the outside be we are all connected. Rule of thirds is not being used, because the image is focused on the center where the body is. The photographer takes the image from a birds eye view he takes it from a high distance.

I think the story of the photograph is that a girl wants to find out if we are different or if we are all the same. The clothing is very beautiful it has a loving theme. It ties to the story. I like the image because it reminds me that the world may be dark, tainted, and rusted but we can look past that and find love and people who care for us.

The photograph shows a girl lying on the ground unbuttoning her pink dress. The dress seems to be from the Victorian Era and lace lines the row of buttons down the middle of the dress, the dress's collar and its sleeves. Her hands are dirty and grimy, her right hand holds a key and both her hands are unbuttoning her dress. The pink dress is a bright contrast to the dark green background that is made up of vines and other plants. The photograph has a dim lit feel to it and the only portion of the girl shown is her torso and lower face.

The image is exposed correctly and focused. The image's subject is the girl and more specifically her chest. I feel that the color is incorrect because the whites look more yellow, but perhaps the lace is just old. There is no pixelation and the photo has a correct resolution. the photograph is pleasing to look at. The rule of thirds is really not in effect here and the point of view appears to be from someone looking down on the girl from directly above. The photograph is framed by the girl's torso/upper body, it cuts off at her waist and right below her nose. The subject fills almost all of the photograph and where the subject is not occupying space, there is grass, clover, vines, and other greens.

The image has an antique, vintage-y vibe about it, primarily because of the style of the dress the girl is wearing and the cogs in her chest, they emit this old feel about it. I feel that the image is saying that she will "unlock" herself for someone, but it is becoming such a common occurrence that it is now like clockwork for her. I think the artist created this image to convey that there is an epidemic of 'willingness' from girls in today's' society to show themselves so often that it becomes monochromatic and like clockwork. I think the photograph plays into the major recent controversy that women are just kinda here for guys and are just supposed to give themselves if that's what the guy wants. It definitely plays into those ideas and standards which I feel the photographer did in order to raise awareness about the controversy.

I like this photograph a lot. I think it is very beautiful and appealing, I would buy a print for my room. The photograph is successful because it invites emotion, whether it be good or bad, happy or angry. I think that's what all photographers want, to have their viewers be moved by their art-I think that's what all artists want.

This picture is of a girl. She is wearing a pink dress. She is lying down on the ground. There is a key in her left hand. There appears to be cogs in her chest.
The cogs are rusty and so are her hands. I do not think that she is human in the photo. There is a lock near her heart and perhaps the key is the key to her heart. The darkness in the corners direct your attention to her. There is negative space in the corners.
The photo seems a little underexposed. I do not find this photo appealing to look at. It is interesting that they did not show the face however. The cogs and gears stand out the most to me. I do not fully understand the deeper meaning.
I do not think the photographer was successful. I do not see what he is trying to show us. My best guess would be that things do not always appear to be what you think. The darkness makes it not appealing to look at. Overall I do not like the photograph.
