This image is of a family holding the "cabbage-patch" dolls. It is using dark and grey colors due to the camera. The lighting used is mostly light colors. There are six people in the image, and eight "cabbage-patch" dolls. The family is "adopting" the dolls.
The image is underexposed towards the back of the photo. The image is in focus on the people holding the dolls. No they colors are not correct, there could be different kinds of color in the image but do to the black and white imagery, the colors are off. There is no pixelation, there is more of a focus on the dolls though. The image to me, is very displeasing to look at.
The rule of thirds is being used due to the position of people in the image. There is also space in the left side of image. The photographer took these images from a first person point of view. The lines point me towards the dolls, the crib is an example of diagonal lines. The subjects do not fill all the frames.
There is negative space in the back of the image around the people and dolls. The story behind these is that the babies were made ugly, so if there was a nuclear war, America would be used to ugly babies. The author made this image to show an example of the babies being bought by the family of the governor of Georgia. This image questions me of why anybody would buy these dolls anyway. It is nota beautiful image, it is more of a creepy image.

This is a photograph of Cabbage Patch babies being born in a hospital. The hospital is in Georgia and has adults holding the babies and picking them up from their crib. The colors are black and white because of how beautiful the dolls are . The photographer wanted to emphasize how simple and beautiful a plastic doll can be. The adults are holding the dolls like they are real babies and holding them like they would their own children. A real baby is pictured in the background crying showing that he is jealous of his mom holding another baby.

This photograph is pleasing to look at because it is so unordinary. You would not normally see Cabbage Patch dolls in an actual hospital. The point of view is bug’s eye because the camera is leveled with the subjects. The lines are shown in the crib and in the stairs in the background. The lines direct your eye because they are a shade lighter than the other whites which are a shade darker. The subjects do not fill the frame because of the adults being shown in the background and cabinets as well. The positive space is of the Cabbage Patch dolls and the negative space is the adults and everything else that doesn’t include the babies.

The theme of this photograph is that strange things can make for good entertainment. Living babies are normally found in an actual hospital, not plastic babies. I believe that the story behind this is that people can have strange fetishes that they find joy in. For example, visiting a plastic-baby hospital. This reminds me of a nightmare I once had of babies attacking me. The photographer’s intention behind this photograph was to have the audience question and ponder the reasoning behind it. This image is noteworthy because no other photograph is composed like that.

I am not really a fan of this photograph because it is not realistic in the slightest. Women don’t normally give their baby to another person to hold a plastic one. Nurses don’t really dress in a nurse’s outfit and tend to babies that aren’t real. I think that the photograph is successful because it became very popular. It is correctly exposed and tells a story that no other person has told. The photograph shows emotions and expressions from the living baby and the other adults.

The image is of a family at the Cabbage Patch Doll hospital. They are there to pick up the dolls which are supposed to replicate their actual children which they had just adopted. The image was shot in black and white and was taken in Babyland, Georgia. In the image we see at least five dolls though not all of them are for the family. The woman handing the dolls is a 'nurse'. I say 'nurse' because she is not an actual nurse that takes care of children rather a woman dressed as a nurse.

There are many forms in the image, most are organic. Most noticeably are the forms of the dolls, their heads are all identical and round. Not even just the face of the doll, but the whole doll is identical, thus there is a repetition of organic shapes. Another form that is prominent to me is the organic form of the peoples' hands. Though they are not identical, they are similar. All of the hands seem to be holding children, whether they are real or a doll.

In this image I notice that there are six people. The 'nurse', I'm assuming two parents, two grandparents, and a toddler. The nurse seems to be showing the mother another baby doll and the mother has one doll in her hands while she looks at the one the nurse is showing her. The grandparents look on, though the grandmother is looking at another doll. The father is holding the actual toddler though the toddler doesn't look too happy about the current situation. Perhaps he is upset that his mother is looking at another child (doll) or maybe he's just upset to be in a creepy doll hospital.

Overall I think this image is creepy; it's interesting, but also creepy. The crib in which all the dolls reside has railing which points to the mother and the doll she is holding. There is negative space in the back left but otherwise most of the space is taken up by the family or the dolls. The photo appears to be taken at night which adds to the eery factor. Although, I doubt it was actually taken at night and that this was just an effect of the photograph being in black and white.

This photograph taken by Alec Soth, shows many Cabbage Patch babies sitting in a crib while looking at the camera. The babies have pacifiers in their mouths and are all wearing the same outfit. In the back, there is a group of five adults standing and facing the one lady that looks like she might be nurse. The lady on the right corner is holding one Cabbage Patch, the an is holding a small child, the lady in front is also holding a cabbage patch, the man behind her is facing the nurse, and the nurse is facing all of them.

The image is in black and white and uses different shades of tones throughout the photograph. The people in the photograph are the brightest which makes it easy to tel that they are the main focus of the camera. The background is dark and seems to not be in focus. The pixelation of the photograph is clear and the photo has adequate resolution.

This photograph uses many different kinds of elements like space, texture, and lines. There is a lot of space in this background that can be seen when looking in the back. Everyone in the room seems to be in the front leaving the back of the room empty. Many different kinds of texture is used in this photograph like the different textures in the people's clothing., the smoothness of the babies' skin, and the material used in the babies' crib. Lines are a big part if this photograph because the lines of the babies crib guide you through the photograph to the back to the shelves and bring you around to the front of the photograph.

I personally don't think I am a huge fan of this photograph because of how odd and absurd it is. The types of people and the ages that are in this room make me question a lot of things about this photograph. The people in this photograph don't seem to be enjoying their time at this location by the looks of their faces as well. All together, when looking at this image, I had more questions than answers which made my opinion of this photograph negative.

This image is of different people--parents/shoppers, a younger child, and a worker at the cabbage patch doll store. It shows the scene of parents shopping and examining different dolls, while also showing some of the store’s inventory. This image is in all black and white, and there are dark shadows but also well-lit areas of the photograph (the background is darker while the middleground and foreground are lighter and more visible.) This image has multiple faces within it. There are five adults including a worker, the face of a baby, and the several faces of the unmoving dolls. The form within this photograph expresses the size of the room and helps show how many dolls there really are within the cruib.

The photograph appears to be correctly exposed, as each part of the image appears to be properly lit. The image is in focus and the resolution is adequate, as no part of the image is hard to see and blurry. Because the photo is black and white, it cannot be color correct/incorrect. The composition of this photo makes it pleasing to look at because of how natural it is. No part of the image looks staged or unrealistic. Because there are multiple subjects of this photo, and none of them are perfectly centered, the rule of thirds is being used. The point of view is third person, and the photographer was in the room looking on to the scene as he took the photograph.

The lines within this photo help direct your eye to the subjects. The diagonal lines within the crib suggest motion and lead your eyes to the dolls within the crib. The image is asymmetrical, as no part of it is exact on each side. The negative space within this photograph is the background, and the positive space is all of the subjects (the people, crib, dolls, etc.) Because there are multiple focal points, all they are really framed by is the edge of the picture, and this frame cuts off the remainder of the room and whatever other actions may be going on in the room. The photographer used a deep depth of field because you can see the background, middleground, and foreground vividly.

I believe this image was taken to show a normal thing that occurs in America, even though it is very unexplained. No context is given in this picture to explain why those people are there, why the hospital exists, etc. Although this photograph causes many questions to arise, it is also a pretty average thing that most people wouldn’t be shocked to see. I think Alec Soth took this to show all of the weird things the average person does without thinking, such as going to a doll hospital to adopt a doll for a loved one. I think this image challenges social beliefs because it makes people realize how strange some of the “normal” things society does really are. Along with challenging social beliefs, this picture also reminds me of childhood because I had a cabbage patch doll of my own. I believe the photographer was successful in making viewers of this image think about and question what is going on. I do enjoy this image because of how strange and unique it is, but at the same time I dislike it because of the eerie vibe it gives off.

This image is of lots of cabbage patch dolls sitting and being held by adults. The image is in black and white. The lighting is bright in the front and dark in the back. There five babies sitting on a crip and three being held. The people there are watching the babies strangely.

This image is not under or over exposed. The focus is on the babies and the people. the babies always have pacifiers. The colors are correct the whites look white and the blacks look black. There is no pixelation.

This image is not pleasing to look at. It is not because there is nothing that really interest me. This point of view is first person. The negative space is in the back and the positive space is in the front. The theme is that the photographer is being back the 80's on how people used to take care of their precious dolls.

This image reminds me on how i used to take care of my baby dolls. I used to wash my babies and put them in a diaper then to sleep in their crib. This image is not interesting to me but may be to others. I don't find this beautiful nor interesting because this image is very black and white and plain. I like images with a beautiful background and sunlight peaking in with a cool object. This image does not show that.

The photograph above is of a group of cabbage patch kid dolls and people who want one. The photograph is monochromatic because it's only black and white. The lighting in the negative space of the photo is dark and the light in the positive space is bright. Objects present in the photo besides the doll is the people who want a Cabbage Patch doll, a nurse, and crib. The people in the photo seem to be captured by the doll and it's "cuteness".

The image is a little overexposed in the subject of focus, but in the background of the photo the lighting is underexposed. The image is in perfect focus since there is no blur of pixelation. The value of the black and white, highlight and shadow, stands out most where the dolls are. The value is high because of how bright the dolls appear.

The photo isn't horrible to look at, the appearance of the dolls gives a creepy vibe to me. This is simply because the dolls are starring straight at the camera and the people who are looking at the dolls look confused and stressed. The combination of confusion and the dolls "happiness" doesn't go well together. Rule of thirds is being used because the dolls are the subject of focus and are at the bottom of the frame. The point of view is first person and the angle is straight forward. The lines in the structure of the crib direct the viewers eyes towards the most dominant thing in the photo, the dolls. The image is balanced and the frame is filled entirely.

The theme of the photo is hard to say because there is a lot going on in the photo. Weirdness could be a theme because of how questionable the photo is. The story being told behind the image is probably everyday American life. The artist took the image of the doll hospital to capture what people may be interested in or to capture everyday life in America. The photograph does remind me of my childhood because I did have a Cabbage Patch doll. The photo is questionable because the viewer would most likely want to know the background or story behind the photo or why the photographer took it. Overall, the photo is very weird, which makes it interesting and I do think that the photo is noteworthy. The image to me isn't really likable but I do think that it is successful.

The image is of cabbage patch dolls in a crib and humans holding more cabbage patch dolls around the crib. The colors being used in the photo is black and white. The lighting in the image looks like it's a studio set-up. The objects included in the image are cabbage patch dolls and a crib. The people included in the image are two men, three women, and a baby. In the image, 3 adults are observing the dolls while another adult tries to hold onto a squirmy and crying baby. The image is looks a little overexposed because the white in the black and white photo looks a little too bright.

The image is in focus. The colors do not look correct because the image is in black and white. There is no pixelation in the image so there is adequate resolution. The image is not pleasing to look at in my opinion because the dolls staring into the camera looks like they're staring into your soul. The crying baby isn't so comforting to look at either. The photographer took the photo facing towards the front of the crib with the dolls.

The depth of field is full because you can see details of the room even behind the adults. The focal point of the image is the woman in the dress who is holding at looking at one of the dolls. She is framed by the line of the crib pointing towards her and the adults surrounding her. There is extra space surrounding the woman in the dress and the other adults. The image crops off some of the body of the woman on the right and some of the body of the woman on the left. The theme of the image is what perfection can cause. These adults are at the cabbage patch kids hospital and they're holding them and looking at them like they're perfect, but because of this, a mother's son is crying and the other adults don't look too happy either.

The artist made this image maybe to portray how weird life can be sometimes. Just like how these grown men and women are in a hospital for dolls and one of them is even dressed up like a real nurse. This image reminds me of the cabbage patch kid I used to play with when I was a kid. This image may challenge belief and assumptions because other people may think that its ridiculous to have a doll hospital and to take a picture of it. The image is interesting because its different than most images taken today. I don't like this photo because it's kind of creepy and its not quite apparent what everyone is doing or trying to accomplish in the photo.

The image portrayed by Alec Soth above is an image of dolls in a crib with their parents and nurses and maybe even family in the background. There is only one real child in the picture and he is crying which shares with us he is unhappy with the situation at hand. The image is in black and white which lets us know there is deep meaning in the photo itself; the image itself shares so much that the color isn't needed. There looks as if there is a ceremony of come sort going on with the dolls. The faces of the adults in the background shares with us the chaos and stress of the situation.

The image is perfectly exposed because the black colors look black and the white colors look white. The image is in complete focus from the foreground to the background. There is no pixilation and there is adequate resolution. The lines within the photo are action lines and lead us to the transfer of babies between the nurse and other women, maybe the mom of the baby behind her. The amount of form within the photo allows it to be complex and allows for deep thinking.

The image is both pleasing to look at and disturbing to look at. It is pleasing to look at because of the contrast of black and white within the photo. It is also disturbing because of the stress and almost awkwardness of the situation being photographed. The rule of thirds is being used with a baby in each of the intersecting points. The depth of field being used is deep because everything is in focus. The image is not balanced because of the chaos being projected in the photo and how out of order everything is.

The situation in the photo is one to be recognized. The image depicts a time where there is a passing on of some sort with the dolls. The dolls themselves look to be passed on from the nurse to the family in the background. The intention of the image was just to show the oddness of the situation at hand. This image reminds me of the horror movies with the freaky possessed dolls because the dolls in the photo are staring creepily at us. This image is interesting and beautiful because its odd situation that is unique to itself.

The picture shown above depicts a room full of people. There is also a crib closer in perspective full of cabbage patch dolls. The people closer to us in perspective are holding these dolls. In the background, there are two men standing, one with a crying child. The image isn't posed, but taken in the middle of a moment. This is shown by the people in the image with their mouths partially open as if in the middle of saying something.

The photograph taken is in black and white with color correctness. The image uses a deep depth of field and is in focus. However, the subjects of the photo are in much better lighting than the darkened background either from flash or differing lighting. Therefore, more attention is drawn to them. The resolution is adequate as well.

The photographer uses many techniques for the composition of this photo. The diagonal lines of the crib simulate movement, and the expressions of the people in the image express anxiety as well. When first looking at the photograph, the eye go directly to the odd display of the cabbage patch kids positioned to stare into the camera. Another thing to be pointed out is the obvious distinction of the negative and positive space. The people, dolls, and the crib take up the positive space with the lighting mostly on them while the negative space is composited of the dark background. This focuses even more attention on the odd situation of the doll hospital.

The story being told in this image is of a couple coming to adopt a cabbage patch kid. This is a puzzling idea as the mom holds the toy while her own child is crying in the background. More confusion is brought up when the elderly woman is carrying a cabbage patch kid and a woman dressed up as a nurse is tending to the toy as well. I think that the photographer was purposefully attempting to shock/ confuse the viewer and bring light to the odd situation. I personally enjoy the photograph because it is so unusual and unique.

The photo by Alec Soth is about cabbage patch kids. They are a toy that kids like to play with. There are many conspiracies about the photograph such as one where the president told the company to intentionally make them ugly. They are so ugly to the point where it strikes fear in the future of our society. They sell the dolls in a "hospital".
This photograph is perfectly exposed. There is a low iso because it is not very grainy. The front of the photo is very well presented because of the lighting. The background is darker and does not allow you to see much. The background also contains a lot of negative space.
The photographer did not follow the rule of thirds. The shutter speed was fast. There is a light directed on them that illuminates the front. If you look at the window you can see multiple cribs lined up. There is also a gift shop on the right hand side behind the people.
This photo is not pleasing to look at in my opinion. The darkness overwhelms the photo. There is too much going on to where it is pleasing. I am not a fan of the dolls themselves. This photo shows that parents are trading their kids for dolls. The dolls could also be kids that were plasticized and formed to be dolls.

This image, taken by Alec Sloth, shows different people huddled around a crib of cabbage patch kids, who are sitting in a crib. One particular subject in the image is a nurse holding one of the dolls like it is a newborn baby. The colors that are being used in the image are black and white, which are very simple to allow the viewer to focus more on the idea behind the image. The lighting used in the image is very interesting because the lightest part of the image is the foreground, showing the dolls, the middle ground is between dark and light, while the background is the darkest. I believe that the most important aspect in the image is the 'birth' of the new cabbage patch kid that everyone is paying attention to.

The photograph is perfectly exposed even though there are multiple lighting scenarios, which is very impressive. Yes, the image is in focus however, the main point of foci of the image are the dolls in the crib and the people holding it. The color does look perfectly sharp. Also, there is no pixelation. The fact that their is also no pixelation is interesting because everything looks like it was slightly in motion before the picture was taken.

The rule of thirds is not being used used because the main subjects are not in any of the main intersections. This image is taken from the 3rd person point of view. I believe that one of focal point of the image, being the dos in the crib, is framed by the lines of the crib. However, the lines of the crib also direct you eye to the nurse and women holding the babies behind the crib. The negative space in this image would include anything in the background and the positive space is anything in the foreground or middle ground.

I believe that the idea behind this image is comparing the material world to the natural world and how most humans favor the material things in life. This is shown by the woman holding the baby doll in the middle ground of the image, which shows that most humans are fascinated by the material things in life, and the baby in the back that is wailing for his mother's attention, who still doesn't pay attention to him. This image questions some people's beliefs because they believe that they love the natural and living things in life and dislike the material things. I do like this image because it shows the reality that most people are living in, but don't realize. I believe this photograph is successful because it it interesting, while aggravating, which most people love.

The image is about a cabbage patch kid hospital in Georgia. It uses black and white because it expresses the colors that were used in the time period in which this image took place. What's happening in the image is that a woman is holding a cabbage patch kid while four other people are behind her. The woman in front of the woman that's holding a cabbage patch kid is wearing a nurse costume, and she is also holding a cabbage patch kid.

The image is a mix between underexposed and overexposed. For example some parts behind the people are really dark to the point where you can't see the stuff behind them. Some parts of the image are to bright. For example the cabbage patch kid's faces are really bright. I think that the color is correct, and I don't see any pixelation in the image.

I think the story behind this image is that the group of people walked in the store to buy a cabbage patch kid for their kids. I think that the image is definitely interesting because you have a random group of people that walked into a cabbage patch kid factory. The kids crying because his mom has a weird looking "thing" in her hand. It changes was tI believe about photoraphy because now I know that it can be wed sometimes.

I have a mixed feeling between liking it and hating it because The image creeps me out, but it also has an interesting theme to the point that it makes me want to question and think about it a lot. When it comes down to my final verdict I think that the image is successful because it keeps me thinking about what the image could possibly mean.

This picture shows a bunch of cabbage patch baby dolls "being born", at a so-called Hospital. There are people around the dolls holding them and pampering them as though they were actual babies. This picture exposes the element of the design of color, because it has a monochromatic theme with black and white. There are dark shadows and nice whites, mostly because of it being monochromatic. However, because of this, there is a high variety of colors in between these two different hues, which means that this picture contains value.

The image seems to be exposed correctly. It is neither too dark or too bright. It also shows to have good focus, which can be thanks to a good deep depth of field. The picture was probably white-balanced in photoshop because the whites look white. The picture itself seems to have an adequate resolution, and shows no sign of pixelation.

In the picture there are other elements of design hidden behind the scenes. One of these would be line. Line is used in this picture with and factions as the cradle's edge near the bottom left corner of the photograph. This specific line allows you to direct your eyes towards the creepy baby dolls being held by nurses and other people. The line is diagonal, and represents the action and movement going on in the picture. This photograph is not pleasing to look at because it is creepy to look at. First of all, I honestly don't find things pleasing unless they are symmetrical, and this picture is everything but symmetrical. Not to mention the creepy baby dolls staring into your soul.

This image is really disturbing and it is the object of my worst nightmares. Before I finish, I'd like to point out a little human girl crying for her mom on the right side of the photograph, as though she is jealous of her mother holding another baby. I think this girl can lead to extreme and controversial themes within the picture. It looks like her mother is more interested on these cabbage patch dolls than her own child. So, my opinion is that this picture's theme illustrates how material things sometimes distract us from what's most important; each other.

The image shows six cabbage patch dolls in a crib (most of them looking at the camera), and people huddled around the crib examining the dolls. This includes a crying baby being held by a man, a "nurse" holding a doll, and three other adults examining the dolls. The image is blacks and white, showing more contrast and emphasizing the details in the image. The foreground, where the subjects are, are lit up pretty well by artificial light, while the background looks relatively dark. In the image most of the people seem to be in an anxious/unrelaxed mood with the exception of the nurse and the woman in the middle who is holding one of the dolls.

The image is perfectly exposed and focused. It also has a somewhat shallow depth of fiels. There isn't any pixelation in the photo and is of adequate resolution. The image isn't too pleasing to look at at first glance because there is a lot of activity in it and a lot of things to analyze. The nurse is at the 1st (vertical) third along the edge of the crib, while the rest of the adults are in the other two thirds along the other edge of the crib. The point of view is from across the crib at eye-level from the other humans. The humans, along with the dolls are the focal point of the image. The edge of the crib creates a line that guides your eye through the image, towards the people, and the other edge shows a line following the babies' heads. The lines are both diagonal lines which suggests activity. The image is asymmetrical, and the subjects fill most of the frame. The image cuts off one of the dolls in the crib, and the nurses' back.

The photo shows how we've learned to attach human qualities to toys and objects. This has come to the extent that we treat fake humans the exact same way we would treat an actual one (carry it in his or her arms, put them in cribs at hospitals, admire their cuteness, etc.). As we've learned from Mrs. Cooper McCaughley's description, we know that Soth attempted to portray our american society through images, and this image successfully shows the way america has created worlds for their consumers; like this hospital in "babyland".This image reminds me of a conspiracy theory Hannah once told me that states that the government purposefully made them ugly to get us used to their ugliness in case a nuclear war really makes babies look this way. This makes me think of the way we've come value objects in similarly to actual human lives. Is it part of our nature to care for things that merely look like humans? The staring dolls also remind me of horror movies like Chuckie (dolls coming to life).

I find this image really interesting due to its layers and layers of mystery and activity. I have a bittersweet feeling to it: I find it creepy and weird, but that's the reason I like it. It is a successful photograph because it really makes one wander how we've learned to value toys and makes me want to be there to see the "behind the scenes" of this image. (Like why did Soth choose this scene?)

This is a photo of 3 women, 2 men, and a baby. The baby is crying. The women are looking at and holding dolls. The dolls shirts have pictures of animals on them. One of them says "daddy's cutie" with a picture of a flamingo.

The people are in a 2 story house. It seems that this photo was taken around July 4th because of the american flag decorations in the background. Most of the people look scared or creeped out in this photo. The creepy looking dolls might be the reason all the people look scared. I think the dolls are what's making the baby cry.

The younger man is trying to calm the baby down. while the older man is looking at the dolls. This photo was taken in black and white making it even creepier. Behind the man holding the baby on the right is a bunch of shiny things hanging off of a box of some sort. There are 9 dolls that you can see and 2 stuffed animals.

This photo looks like it came out of a scene of a horror movie. I do not like this photo because it is very creepy and gives off bad vibes. This photo has a shallow depth of field. This photo looks like it was taken sometime in the 1900s. The more you look at this photo the creepier it gets.

This photo seems to have been shot in a cabbage patch store. The mom of the family seems to be buying a cabbage patch kid for her daughter who is throwing a fit in her fathers arms. The only colors displayed are black and white. The lighting in the photo seems to be coming from the flash of the camera. The objects in the image include a bunch of cabbage patch kids and some key chains in the background.

The photo seems to be a bit overexposed. The photograph is in focus. The whites look whit in the image so the color is correct. There is no pixilation in the image. This means that there is adequate resolution.

The composition is not very pleasing to look at because of the way the subjects are positioned. The rule of thirds is not being used. There isn't a single focal point in the image because so many different things are going on there are multiple. There are no lines that direct your eyes and the image is very asymmetrical. The frame crops off the rest of the store.

The theme of the image is childhood in my opinion. I think the story behind the image is that the little girl did not want a cabbage patch kids doll so she decided to act out. I think the artist photographed this scene to show how ungrateful kids sometimes are. This reminds of when I was younger and would have a collection of cabbage kids dolls. In my opinion, the image isn't really beautiful or noteworthy.
