5 Reasons you were successful this weekend, and why.

5 Reasons you were unsuccessful this weekend, and why, and what you can do differently next time.

Successful:
Had a well lit background
Had a cooperative subject
Camera was in focus
Used sports mode
Good depth of field

Unsuccessful:
Actually using sports mode
Some of the pictures were blurry because of movement
The sun started to set s lighting was going down
Color towns were really balances in the background
Had to take a lot of takes and still did not get all my photos

5 Thing I did successfully
The amount the object moved between frames. Makes it flow throughout the whole animation
The background was very basic and didn’t take away from the main object
Keeping the tripod still and at the same point. The tripod stayed at the same point even though the object moved.
Shot 154 images enough to do 15 frames per second.
5 things I did unsuccessfully
The exposure started to change from start to end. Next time just make sure the exposure stays the same.
The easel of my painting was slanted and the wind blew it over a couple times.
Didn’t have much of a story.
My original plan didn’t work.
Could have shot more images to make a longer stop motion

Successful:
Fluid Motion- walking/movement looks natural
Consistent set/lighting- used artificial light/ closed off set so I have full control on set/background/lighting
Patience- made small movements between each frame instead of cutting corners
Camera Movement- flows, not choppy
Stuck to Storyboard

Failed:
Soft Lighting- Lighting is a bit harsh and cast a glare on a character
Still footage- camera shakes/isnt perfect still (should be able to fix in post though)
Framing (needs to be 21:9, otherwise you can see stuff not on set)
Quick Movement- some actions happen too fast
Shadows cast- inconsistent shadows since I stood in different places when taking the photo

Bueno
Created a motivating story- hopefully increases strong impact of film
Created strong models for the character- assists the
Strong camera dynamics- makes the film look cooler/ more professional
Strong Camera Focus- Characters are constantly in focus, and poor camera work won't distract from the film
Original Idea- I feel that the idea is original and fresh. Hopefully people will enjoy it.
Not Bueno
Rig for moving them in the air- very difficult to move, and posing is impossible in the air.
Waited for the sunshine that was never coming instead of carrying on with other parts of the film- put me way, way, behind schedule
Used a desk as one of my sets and had to use it later- continuity will be a terrible pain for me, as everything was moved off my desk, and needs to be put back in the exact same way.
Changed the lighting for about a half second of film on accident- It distracts away from one of the critical points of the story
Too little movement/ pictures per second- I’m pretty sure that my work is currently running a very, very low pictures per second count, so it’ll look really choppy.

5 Successful Things
-Stuck close to my storyboard- I didn't have it with me so it's good that it is close so i don't have to reshoot to match my storyboard
-Moving the mannequin- easy to move and i don't have to reshoot
-Focus- pictures are sharp
-Iso settings- good light and sharp focus for the most part
-Using remote on camera- made it easier to make good images because i had a multiple second shutter speed
5 Unsuccessful Things
-Lighting changes- mix of natural and artificial light
-Story might be unclear- not focusing enough on things important to the plot
-Making the mannequin jump- doesn't actually look like he's jumping
-Getting smooth camera angles- moving the camera was hard with my tripod in tight spaces so the camera movement looks choppy
-Not finishing- this means i have to finish on a different day and try to recreate the light and scene which is hard

Successful:
I followed my storybook
I kept my tripod steady and it kept my images straight
I got all the images i wanted to for my story
I got most of the movements I wanted
I shot 181 images
Unsuccessful:
Some of my photo are a little blurry because I had a hard time with the speed that the boy in my story was walking
The weather was bad so i had to rush into taking my photos
I don’t like the color the sky was giving off it makes my pictures look bad
I didn’t get all the movements because the boy moved to fast and it was hard to make him get back in the same exact spot to retake the photo
It was very time consuming and i had to retake a lot of photos

Successfully
I started working early and had good lighting
I created a new story in a small amount of time.
All the pictures have a good depth of field and the main object is in focus.
Got different angles.
I was able to move the object I was working with very easily and made it faster to shoot.
Not successful
The idea I first had in mind was very hard to work with, so I had to do a different story.
Some settings and angles were hard to work in.
Did not finish shooting all of the images I needed.
I didn’t buy all the materials needed.
It was hard to work with some of the materials.

Things I did successfully and why:
I think i managed to be very patient with this project because of all the tiny movements that i had to make with all the moving parts.
I feel like I did a good job keeping my lighting consistent because I managed to photograph in a well lit part of the day.
I think I did a good job in combining all the components of my project together because I found ways to have everything come together.
I feel like I did a good job with managing my time because I managed to finish my project in one session.
I believe the last thing I was successful in was keeping my photos consistent with the angle at which they were taken.
Things I did unsuccessfully and why:
My attempt to cut bread was not good because it was very messy. I could have tried to maneuver the knife better.
I messed up in trying to move the objects at good angles and some things were blocked by others. To fix that I could have taken my time more.
I didn’t feel like some of my pictures were alike to ones from other scenes. I could have changed angles.
I did a bad job at moving objects onto other objects because it was hard for me to do that. Once again, I should have been more patient.
I feel like my attempt to get liquids out of containers was bad because it looked bad. I should have used a different container that would have made removing liquids easier.

5 Things i did successfully, and why
I did create the illusion of motion.
I did have a story in the images.
I did manage to successfully pull it without showing someone move it.
I did successfully tie a string to the object and made it move.
I successfully put effort to the project.
5 things i did not do successfully.
I did not take still images which were somewhat blurry.
I did not take consistent images, small movements between pictures made it look inconsistent.
I didn't have a tripod to steady my images.
Not an interesting story
Very boring, needs more pizazz.

5 things you did successfully
Making the figures move
More than 150 images
Followed storyboard
Turn it on time
Shot in jpeg
5 things that you were unsuccessful doing
Making the figures move consistently, ex: figures moving at different distances
Making fluent animation, example: figures' wonky walk
Getting other objects either staying in frame or out of frame, for example, the pen was in frame then out of frame.
Making the playdough under the figures feet unnoticeable
Making cool animations

5 Successful things:
Lighting. I think that I took good care of the lighting making sure that it wasn't too dark or bright.
Story telling. It is easy to understand what is going on, ot it will be once Im done.
Focus. Most images are well focused
Camera angle. Each frame captures exactly what I wanted.
How I arranged the paper to “move” when it was “loose”
5 Unsuccessful things:
Moving too fast = blurs
Not finishing the entire story
White balance changes
