The image shown is of an old, rusty, broken down school bus sitting lifeless in the middle of nowhere. The paint is chipping and it looks like it hasn’t moved in ages. An even older fence line is parallel to the bus, and some RV’s are in the background. The lighting is from natural sources, and the image uses a warm color palette. It appears to be midday, and dead grass covers the ground.

The picture is well composed, with no clipping being easily seen. The bus sits in the direct middle of the shot. The camera appears to of been placed at shoulder height. A deep depth of field is used, revealing details within the background. The image’s background is unbalanced, with light RVs on one side of the bus and dark dead trees on the other side.

This image has a very obvious theme of death and decay. Perhaps the bus was abandoned and forgotten, just like the piece of land it sits on. The setting reminds me of “Fallout,” a video game based in a post-nuclear war United States. The image is unique, and shows beauty despite the scenario pictured. Maybe the image is a symbol, representing the beauty in our forgotten past.

I like the picture because of the situation pictured and the color palette. The picture offers a setting and an object, allowing for the viewer to create their own story in the given setting. Nothing sticks out in the picture either, allowing for complete immersion. The color pallette is interesting and immediately shows the age of the bus. The combination of the colors and the setting create an awesome setting, which is made into a great photograph.

This image is of a greenhouse in a backyard. Outside it is dark but the greenhouse is lit up with gold and yellow lights. There are also some other things around this house including a dog house, table, pots, and bags. In the background of this image are trees and a tall wooden fence. On the ground is big rocks that make a pathway and some leaves.

This image is pleasing to look at because outside it is dark and the house it lit up gold and yellow colors. The rule of thirds in this image is being used because the main focus which is the house is in the center of the image. The angle of the image is taken from eye-level. This image has a very deep depth of field because almost everything is in focus. The focal point in this image in the house and its colors.

The lines from the house and the fence direct your eye to look at the house. This image is balanced and pretty much symmetrical. There is a little bit of extra space in the edges of the image that is filled by the fence, ground, and trees. The fence, trees, and ground is being cut off in this image. The positive space is where the image is lit up and the negative space is where the trees are.

I think that the theme in this image is too really make the house light up and for it to be dark outside to give the image a sort of creepy theme. I think that the artist made this image to showcase the bright lights lighting up the outside. I think this image is very interesting. This image reminds me of a movie because it kind of creepy and it’s dark outside.

Overall I really like this image because of how it was shot. It focus’ on the greenhouse and it being lit up at night. I think the smaller things around the house make it full and make it more real looking. I like the trees behind the house because it adds to the background to not make it plain and boring.

I am writing about the photo of the greenhouse. The greenhouse is in a backyard; around it is a table covered in planting pots, a dog house, a trashcan, and chairs with bags of charcoal on top. It is dusk, so there is a blue tint to the photo, but the yellow light inside the greenhouse is on. The image is mostly dark, with the exception of the seems-to-be glowing greenhouse. You can see some plants in the greenhouse.

The greenhouse is centered in the photo. The photo was taken of the greenhouse straight on. There is a deep depth of field because everything is focused. The focal point is the greenhouse because its light makes it stand out in the otherwise blue photo. The image is balanced, but not quite symmetrical.

The trees above the greenhouse balance the patio ground beneath it, and the table of pots balances the chair with charcoal. The greenhouse does not fill the entire frame , and there is extra space in the trees and the ground around the greenhouse. The tops of the trees are cut off by the edge of the image. This picture is pleasing to look at because the warm glow of the light of the greenhouse gives a nice contrast to the cool blue tones of the space around it. There are lines in the grouting of the tile patio that lead your eye to the greenhouse.

This picture reminds me of one of the older spiderman movies. I think it is the one with Poison Ivy, where her lair is her greenhouse. It’s been a while since I have seen it, and I have only seen it once, so I could be totally wrong. From this photograph, you can make a story about the person who owns the greenhouse. They obviously love plants and gardening, and take it seriously. They either have a dog or used to have a dog. The yard is a little messy, so they probably don't play in the yard.

I like this picture because it is comforting. I really like how the greenhouse glows. I think this was a successful image. I don’t know why the artist photographed this or what they were trying to say with this image, but it makes the viewer think. It gives the observer a chance to piece together little pieces of information to learn more about the people who live at this place.

I am writing about the image of the white shoes. This is an image of a pair of white boots sitting on a white metal surface. The image is only using white in order to give the image a very bright and happy aura. The lighting in the image is very bright due to the color that is being used, but there do seem to be a few darker areas. The objects that are included in the image are boots, shoelaces, and a white metal surface. In the image, a pair of white boots appear to have been placed on a white surface on a bit of a cloudy day.

I think that the photographer made the image using a tripod in order to keep the image focused. They most likely placed the boots on an elevated surface where the white metal is and then made the tripod higher up than the boots in order to achieve the angle. This image probably required a studio setup because it seems that in order to take this picture there needs to have been some planning. I think that the photographer used natural light to take this image rather than artificial light. I believe that this image took a lot of pre-planning in order to get the lighting just right and make the colors cooperate with it.

The composition functions well because the foreground and background of the image are the same color and the lighting suits it very well. The rule of thirds is not being used in this image. The image was taken from an angle that was across from and elevated about a foot from the boots. The depth of field appears to be shallow because at the top of the image in the back there seems to be some blurs. The focal point of the image is the pair of boots, which are not framed. The lines of the image are mostly vertical but don’t seem to lead your eyes in any direction. The image is very balanced, and is almost symmetrical as each side of the image nearly resembles the other perfectly. The subject fills up a lot of the frame but there is still extra space. The edge of the image appears to crop off randomly. The positive space is the boots and the negative space is the background.

There don’t appear to be any themes in the image besides that there are a pair of very white boots sitting on a very white surface. There does not appear to be any kind of story being told in the image. I think that the artist made the image solely for artistic purposes. For some odd reason, the image reminds me of cloudy days right before it is going to rain. The image clearly does not question any beliefs. I think that the image is interesting because of how vague and simple it is.

I am personally a big fan of this image mainly because it is so simple. I like that the image doesn’t seem busy and doesn’t overwhelm me by the amount of activities going on in it. I also like how the whole image is cohesive in color and lighting, and that everything seems to fit together just like a puzzle. I enjoy the all white aspect of the image with the bright yet gloomy lighting. Finally, I like this image because it is so vague in terms of a story, which seems to work with the simple color, simple objects, and simple lighting.

The image I chose is of a girl sitting against a wooden fence. She has a tan to her skin and has long hair that is a mix of blonde and brown. Her hair is put up into a low ponytail with a few pieces hanging around her face. Her face is pointed off to the left of the image as if she is looking at something. She looks to have hazel or greenish blue eyes. Her lips are pink and she has a very hurt look on her face.

The girl looks to be around fifteen or sixteen and is wearing a white dress. The white dress is sleeveless and has a shirt overlay with white polka dots on it. There is also a piece of that same material tied around her neck into a bow. She is also wearing pearl earring and Her nails are painted are dark blue color. She is also holding fie yellow flowers in her hand. There are five yellow flowers that are almost a golden color with bright green leaves and stems.

The girl is sitting criss cross with her hands in her lap holding the flowers and is looking off to the left. Her body is facing forward except for her head. Behind the girl there is a wooden fence that is a chocolate brown color. The wood from the fence has a very weathered look to it because some of the paint is starting to fade away. She also looks to be sitting on a brick side or curb and the bricks are a mix between red and black.

The light source looks like it’s shining from above her from the way that the light is hitting the fence. You can’t really see where the light is coming from because there isn't really any harsh light. The bricks and the girl look like they have sun hitting them through a tree. The girl doesn’t really have much of the light hitting her though except for a little bit on her legs and the top of her head. The harsh light in this image is hitting the fence and the softer light is hitting the girl and the bricks.

The girl’s dress, flowers and lips all really pop in this photo because the background is made up of dark neutral colors. Everything that makes up the background is a dark, rich color and the girl pops because of the bright and vibrant colors. I like this image a lot and I think it tells a story. The girl looks as if something tragic has just happened and it really makes you wonder what that was. She looks as if her heart has just been broken, but she’s trying to keep it together. Over all I really like this photo because the girl really stands out and it has a story and almost a mystery to it.

I chose the vertical image of the vines growing up the side of the house. The image is entirely made up of cool and dull colours. It’s a very interesting lighting, because its an outdoors picture, so we should be expecting warm light, but its a cool light. My guess for how this was done is either on a bright but cloudy day, or that this image has been white balanced heavily. The building in the image appears to be run down a little bit, but not abandoned all together.
This photo is taken from an interesting height as well. This photo could either be on a medium height tripod, and somehow is hiding the ground, or is taken from eye level and is showing an extremely tall house. The focal point of this image is actually the house itself, despite the vines growing on it. The image is using a deep depth of field, because the fading away edge of the house is still in foccus. The light in the image is really interesting again, because as the house fades away on the left side, so does the lighting, getting darker as you approach the left-hand side.
The windows in the image create a really cool almost-negative space. The concept of windows being blocked and not allowing you to see through is one of the things that gives this photo it’s strange vibe. The house itself has symmetry in it’s structure, but because of the anges camera and the vines ignoring symmetry all together, you have an interesting feel of chaos taking over order. The edge of the image is really well done, because there are no edges to the house. The house continues outside the picture, and the cement base seems to stretch on forever.
The image seems to be telling a story of a house that is no longer lived in, or is only visited once in awhile. I think that this artist was probably compelled to take this picture purely on aesthetic basis. The vines growing up the side of run-down house definitely has a vibe to it that’s hard to forget. The theme of the image seems to be nature reclaiming a building, and just decay. I certainly think that this image is beautiful as well due to it’s calming aura.
I personally really like this image. The house in the photograph looks like the one that my cousins used to live in and I grew up being babysitted by them. They had a blue paneled house with vines growing up the side as well, so it takes me back to my childhood. But this house it different in that the paint is chipping away and the vines aren’t being controlled in where they go, giving this image a real vibe to it. I personally think this image is ultra-successful, as there’s just so many factors that go into giving this simple picture of a house an unsettling air and a definite aesthetic to it.

The picture that i chose is the destroyed school bus. This picture contains a old weathered school bus that is not that big. The surroundings have similar aesthetics to the schoolbus. The grass looks dried up and there are some wooden planks around the grass adding to the atmosphere. The trees in the background don't have any leaves or green.
The sky is one bland monotone color. There are some mountains way in the distance that are bland colors as well adding to the vibe. In general the photograph is made up of some really bland and gloomy colors. There is a lot of brown in the fences and phone lines. The ground and the mountains in the far back are a variant of light brown and mushy green. The grass isn't lush and vibrant at all. The grass is grey and light brown.
The subject which is the school bus pops out very well. Everything around the school bus has a color atmosphere to it like all bland gloomy colors. The schoolbus on the other hand is a bright yellow which makes it pop. Although it's a bright color the schoolbus still doesn't lose its touch with the rest of the atmosphere because its run down and old. This is very well executed by the photographer for time spent.
I really like this picture because of its atmosphere that it gives off. The weathered old dead atmosphere, This type of vibe is something i really enjoy. The school bus with its surrounding was a amazing choice for giving off tis vibe. This was executed well because of how the subject pops yet it still feels like it belongs in the picture. The atmosphere is very well done as well as the composition of the photograph.
Everything in the photograph seems very well planned out. Whenever you look at this photograph you can see the effort the photographer made into making this photograph. You can see the trees in the background. You can see the rvs in the background. You can see the mountain in the background all fitting the atmosphere and all fitting in the same color spectrum.

The image is of a close look tire from a car. The tire looks like it has been on the road before due to the stains and scratches. The photographer had put the camera really close to the tire with a shallow depth of field to see all the fine details of the tire. The image looks like it has been taken inside an open garage because there’s light shining on the tire but not on the background. The tire seems to be part of a car and not of a jeep or truck that is used for going through mud and dirt.

The image is fairly pleasing to look at because of the dim lighting shining on the tire. The image doesn't really use the rule of thirds because the tire takes up the whole image. The image can be arguably be a bug’s eye view image because through a bug’s perspective the tire would seem huge. The Photographer took the image slightly above the tire and the image uses a shallow depth of field. The reason why the image has a shallow depth of field is because you can see the tiny details of the tire but the background is blurry.

The focal point of the image is the line passing through the tire in the middle of the image. The image has leading lines everywhere pointing toward the line on the tire in the middle of the image. The image is symmetrical and the subject almost entirely fills the frame. The image leaves out the rest of the tire and the background. The positive space of the image is the tire and the negative space is the background.

The image doesn’t really have any themes because it's just a picture of a tire. The story of the image is that the photographer took a picture of a tire from his/her car that he/she uses to get to school. The intention of the image is to show you the tiny details of a tire. The image reminds me of the tire from my parents’ cars. The picture didn’t challenge my beliefs because it's just a tire.

I like the image for it’s simplicity and detail. I never thought a picture of a tire could look so neat. I really liked the lighting and how I can see the tiny details of the tire like is the white stain bird poop or paint from the road. The photographer probably didn’t think the image would come out looking this good since it’s just a picture of a tire. The image is successful because it made me appreciate the tiny details of a tire.

This is the tenth image of the collection presented to us. The setting is outside on what looks like a big house garden. There is a garden house that is surrounded by garden tools and a dog house. At the back of it there are a lot big beautiful trees that cover the sky and contribute to the outside theme. The image is using dark colors when talking about chromaticy, but now when talking about denotation.

This image is quite beautiful. To begin with, the most attractive thing about it is that the light being used is not reflecting directly to the subject but the subject itself is beaming light. Of course, there is light coming from the outside since its either very early in the day or about to be night. The depth of field is very wie since not only the subject (the garden house) is focused but also the things around it and a little bit the trees in the back. The image is balanced quite well since it is not charged with a lot of information on one side or the other. The photographer managed to make the image in such a way that it looks like a natural place.

I feel like this image is completely open ended. This could have a mysterious theme like Stranger Things, or a kids story like A Wrinkle in Time. This image reminds me of these exact stories. I could see the mom of the kid that got lost during the first season inside this garden house trying to communicate with her son, as I could see the father of the protagonist in A Wrinkle in Time tesser inside this little house. This image is clearly noteworthy and beautiful because all of the things mentioned.

The technique that the photographer used really intrigues me. I can’t really tell if this is a composed setting, a real setting, or something in between these parameters. Because of the little bit of light that is present and how well defined the image is, I am guessing she or he used a los shutter speed which means she probably used a tripod. Then there is the fact that natural forces were very nice that day since the little dry leaves aren't moving at all. If all of these guesses are wrong, then the photographer has very good photoshop and editing skills.

If it is not obvious, I do like this image. I had noticed it before this assignment actually, and it did not surprise me that Mrs. Cooper McCauley picked it for this critical analysis. I like it because it is so simple and has such a natural setting and yet, the photographer was able to capture it beautifly. I don't know what was the purpose of this image, but it is successful as an image. Successful like this class and the teacher, thank you Mrs. Cooper McCauley for all that you taught me!

I am writing this critical analysis on the greenhouse. This greenhouse is in a backyard surrounded by a fence, pots, planting supplies, and a doghouse. The colors in this image are dark green, black, and brown. The lighting in this image is dark because this photo was taken at night and then there is light coming from inside the greenhouse. What is happening in this image is that a greenhouse is sitting in a backyard and the light is on.
This image is pleasing to look at because it’s dark outside and then the light is flowing through which lights up the space around the greenhouse. The greenhouse is right in the middle of the image so the rule of thirds is being used. The angle is at and eye level view. The photographer took this image at a deep depth of field to capture what is around the greenhouse. The focal point is the greenhouse.
The lines in this image come from the trees because the trees direct your eye to the main subject. This image is well balanced and symmetrical. The greenhouse does not fill the image there is extra space around it. I think at the edge of this image there is more patio space and a house. The positive space is the greenhouse and the negative space is the background.
I think the photographer is trying show how peaceful and calming their backyard is. This reminds me of when I used to have a greenhouse and how we used to keep our plants and vegetables in it. We had pots everywhere and fertilizer surrounding our greenhouse. My greenhouse looked exactly like this one. And it reminds me of how something can be surrounded by darkness but it can light up the world.
I like this image a lot because it’s so peaceful and serene. The photographer took this image at a perfect time. The darkness really brings out the light coming from the greenhouse. The greenhouse makes the whole image brighter which I like a lot.The image really caught my attention when I was looking through the other images.
