This image is powerful, and striking. It is a composition titled "unemployed blackjack dealer". The photographer, Richard Avedon did an excellent job with the image. The man in this image is wearing nice clothing, but he has a sort of rustic, weathered look to him. He looks poor, and he is old. The title of the image greatly contributes to the understanding of the image because we recognize that this man is a unemployed person, but he used to be a blackjack dealer, which explains the clothing. This image is correctly exposed, and is in black and white coloration.

This work uses good composition that thoroughly enhances this image. The rule of thirds is not used, because the subject is right in the middle of the frame. There are no leading lines in the image, but the image still is able to remain both intriguing and thought provoking. The lighting is natural, and the subject is placed behind a white backdrop. The backdrop could be considered a frame for the image. This image coneys complex thematic ideas as well as having a wonderful composition.

This image conveys starkly contrasting ideas, such as unemployment and lavishness, gambling and poverty, and hard times and good times. These contrasts set up the central theme of the image, in which the photographer is trying to convey a central idea of the gambling industry, which is this contrast between winning a good deal of money, and losing a good deal of money. The gambling industry can go both ways, and in this case, this blackjack dealer seems to have caught the worse end of the deal. The man stands with one hand in his pocket and he has a sad look on his face which is an indicator of his apparent poverty and struggle ever since he has been unemployed. This image conveys complex themes and ideas.

I find this image to be very thought provoking and beautiful. The expression on the face of this man conveys a great deal of power and meaning, and this is an impressive feat. Furthermore, the paradoxical contrasts in the image add to its central themes and ideas. This is a beautiful picture as well, and the choice to use black and white was a good one. All in all, this is an exquisite image that conveys a good deal of meaning.

The image is of an older man looking straight at the camera. This image is in black and white. To me it looks like studio lighting and he is behind a backdrop. The objects in this image are of the man. The man has his hands in his pockets and is rising an eyebrow, it seems he has a lot of confidence.
I think this image is just right. Yes the image is in focus it is focused on the man. I think this image is very pleasing to look at. The rule of thirds is not being used. The subject does fill the page.
The man fills the whole picture. I think thee is a story being told of what he is wearing and his body language and his facial expression. In his facial expression it makes you look at the man differently. How he has his head held high and is rising his eyebrow. Almost like he is looking down on you.
It seems to me that the man the way he is looking, he looks very condescending in a way. I think the photographers intention was to show the different people around the world and how different people are in different cultures. This image reminds me of an old movie of what he is wearing and how its in black and white. The man reminds me of an old hollywood actor in an old western movie. I think this image is very interesting and very cool and I really like this image.

For a black and white picture this one is chocked full of detail. Every wrinkle and every line pops out. It looks 3D because of the plain white background. This man looks very very old. But, considering his age all of his features show his character.
The mans jacket makes a few things happen in this image. For one the pattern is eye catching. For another its slightly disorienting. Looking at it for an extended period of time hurt my eyes. Im not sure if this was intentional or not but its a great feature. The style of the jacket shows which timeframe the person is from. That time being the 80's.
the way he is looking at the camera makes him look like he has put up a false front. Another way of saying that is, he is sad but has put up a wall do not shoe it. The thing is, the eyes never lie. You can tell by his slight smile and the way his gaze drifts that he is currently maybe depressed.
The man's shirt, on his left collar, is sticking out of his jacket. Judging by the fact that this is his final image, you cantle that he wanted to allow imperfection to shine. Almost saying that being a little of is unique and interesting. This being said, it definitely caught my eye and is one of the most informative characteristics of this photograph.

This image is a photo of a man who's is dressed. The details of this photo focus a lot on his facial features, and his clothes. The colors of this photo are turned to black and white. The lighting is studio set up because of the white backdrop. The object included is a man with a suit, and i guess it could be a colorful shirt.

The quality of this image is just right. Its not too dark nor too bright. This image is in focus especially his body. You can't tell if the photos are correct because it is in black and white. There is not too much pixelation in this photo.

This photo is very pleasing to look at. It is pleasing to look at because of his body language is very calming. His face expression is very calm, which gives the audience a wave of relaxation. The angle the photographer used is a angle straight into the subject which is the man. The focal point is the mans body and his face. This image is not framed, because of the backdrop.

The photographer probably aimed for a calming photograph. It could show that appearance doesn't mean anything. Or it could show that being calm makes others feel better. This reminds me of my grandparents because they are always calm. I love this photo, and i think it was successful.

This image is of an unemployed blackjack dealer who is wearing a snazzy suit and tie with his shirt unbuttoned. It is using black and white to show the older look which it is trying to portray. The lighting seems natural but it could be studio light because the background is just white. The man is the only person in the picture and it focuses on his jacket and face. He is standing still with one hand in his pocket, looking at the camera.

The image is correctly exposed. It is correctly focused. The colors look like they are supposed to for the most part. There is no pixelation. The picture has an adequate resolution.

The photograph is kind of using the rule of thirds because the man is in the center of the picture. The point of view is from directly in front of the man. The focal point is his face and his jacket. The lines on his jacket point towards him and the line on his tie points towards his face. The image is partially balanced because the jacket is the same on both sides but the tie is different and the right side of the collar is out of the jacket.

The theme of this image is that life is too fast paced and we need to take time away from its constant motion to enjoy nature and its simplicity. The artist made this image to challenge us to step back from society and retreat into nature where life is more simple. It says that everyday life is constantly changing and has no constancy and we must go into nature to find a constant. I like this photo because it makes me want to retreat into nature and enjoy a break from the constant motion of society. I believe it is successful because it can have this effect on others and make them want to retreat into nature where life can be lived more simply.

This photo is a portrait. It is in black and white. It is studio lighting. It is a man in front of a back drop. He is posing like he's in a fashion magazine.
The image has perfect exposure. The image is in ficus. The colors are correct. The is adequate resolution. There is no pixelation.
It is pleasing to look at. The rule of thirds is being used. It is in bugs eye. It is not framed. The lines of his jacket directs your eye.
The image is symmetrical. Th subject fills the frame. The frame only crops off the backdrop. He looks serious. It is not pleasing to look at.

The photo is of a man standing in front of a backdrop. He is wearing a zig zaged suit. He is just standing there posing for the camera. The image is in black and white. The picture uses studio light. There are very little shadows because of the studio light.
The picture is perfectly exposed nothing is too bright or dark. The image is also perfectly in focus on the man's face. The whites are white so the color is correct. There is no pixelation because the photographer is a professional and knows what he is doing.
The image is somewhat pleasing to look at. The zig zag on his jacket lines are a bit distracting with and drag your attention to look all over the image. The photographer took the picture from eye level. The image is symmetrical because the man is in the middle of the image and his jacket lines are balanced on to both sides. All of the negative space is the white backdrop behind him.
I think the image is representing that he has doesn't have all he wants. He may have a fancy suit but the white backdrop is showing the emptiness and lack of things he has. His face seems sad and he isnt smiling so he isn't happy with what he has. The artist wanted to show even though people seem like they have a lot, they might not have all that much.

This image is of an older man wearing a suit posing in front of a white backdrop. The photo uses many different textures. The suit that the man is wearing uses a lot of harsh lines. He mixes different textures which shows he is confident and is going for a younger look.
The photo uses bright sunlight. It is correctly exposed. The image is in focus. The color is correct. The picture uses adequate resolution. The picture is pleasing to look at because i tells a story.
The rule of thirds is not being used because the man is in the middle of the photo. The subject fills the frame. The image cuts off the rest of the mans body. There are many lines in the image and all of them are in his outfit. The lines point in many different directions both towards the man, and away from the man.
This image peaks my curiosity and makes me want to know more about the subject. His look makes him appear like he has a young soul. His hair and his outfit is something that a young man would wear to a formal event around the 80's. This image reminds me of Grease, the movie, because of how he looks. I would really like to have a conversation with him because he looks very interesting. This image is trying to tell a story of a man who is young at heart.

This image is of an elder in his suit, In the background there seems to be a white backdrop and studio lights are being used.In this image the Actor seems to be posing for a proffesional photograph. There seems to be no view of the structures behind him because of the backdrop. This image is in focus, primarily on the whole man. Yes, for this picture it seems as if the color grade would have been changed to “Grayscale” and the photographer edited the contrast and whites. Also, there seems to be a little of pixelation on the suit due to all the lines and patterns that are being used.

This image is pretty pleasing because of how professional it looks, although the photographer took a picture of a random stranger, and just corrected the positioning. There doesn't seem to be a rule of thirds being used in this image, the actor is placed in the middle and the backdrop in the back. This picture also does seem a little framed so the viewers don't see the rest of the backdrop and can see the image really clearly (no distractions). In the image, the backdrop could be covering the view of a street or a building. As great as this picture looks, I can't seem to identify much of a story being told.

In this photo, and the way which it was put, can only determine that the photographer was trying to take portraits of the sort of people walking around reno de vada (Think thats how its spelled) and how the sort of dress code is in this time. This image doesn't remind me of anything valuable, other than my first time trying to set up the backdrop. In this picture, the elder being photographs reminds me of my grandpa because he would always pose and dress in these kinds of outfits. This image is pretty, I find it to be very skillful, especially when involving the backdrop and making it seem so clean.

Yes, I like this image, it seems as if the photographer was trying really hard to get a clean photo only of the people. I find this image to be successful, especially because of all the work that was put just to photograph. If there were to be a note about this image, I would just try to remember the effort and the sharpness the photographer used to make this image look so good.

This is a portrait of a man. The picture is black and white. We can easily see that this man is really old. He has wrinkle al over his face. The man looks really sad and worried.

If we look at the background, we can know that he is in a studio environment because the background is pure white. However, the facial expression and the position of everything is really realistic. We can see what he has been through. From all the things that we see from the photo, we can know that he is poor. He is a unemployed person and living a really hard live.

If we look a the collar of the shirt, we can see that one of them is under the jacket, however, the other one is outside. We can know that he is living a unorganized life. Also, his face gives us a sense of sadness. It shows to me that he is confused about his future and his family's life. I think the photo want to tell us something about the economic crisis at that time. Lots of people don't have work and are living hard lives.

I like the picture because the man's expression is really realistic. It's like a documentary photo. Also, it reflect the man's hard life. The most important thing is that it can reflect the era. The photo is a masterpiece.

Avedon’s portrait is of an older man with a diversely patterned suit looking straight into the camera. The interesting suit shows us more about the culture in the West. His face is contorted to a smug and his face is slightly squinted probably due to the sun in his face. Also his neck and hands are covered with freckles and spots that are probably due to the harsh sun in the dry West area. This can tell us that maybe he works (or used to work since he is unemployed) outside in the fields or a worker. The wrinkles on his face show us age and again the sun’s affect on his skin. It gives the subject character and gives the image more dimension.

The image has adequate exposure and the photographer probably used the bright sun as his source of light. The resolution is high quality because there is little to no pixelation and the image is in focus using a broad depth of field. The picture was not altered with color corrections because the background is an off white.
The subject is in the center of the image making it the main focus. The solid white backdrop is present to create no other distractions. This is to keep your eye on the subject, the man.

Even though the image is black and white, it is still pleasing to the eye because of the clear and crisp quality of the resolution. The camera angle was taken straight on the subject. Even though there are no lines, frames in the image, and since it is taken straight onto the subject with no distractions, it forces the viewer to look only at the man. there is some negative space on the top of his head, but some decent amount of positive space on the right and left sides of the image. With the limited amount of outside space again this makes the man the main subject to look.

This man reminds me of some of the people in the market when I go to Ukraine. I go visit my grandmother in a small town and there are many unique and interesting look people in certain parts of the Bazzar. The man’s closed body language with one hand in his pocket and the other covering his body reminds me how private people are there. His suit also reminds me of the “thrift store” suits some people wore when they didn’t have a lot of money. This is a really beautiful image because it’s authentically portrays the man as part of the western culture in the 1980s. Therefore I believe this is a successful photograph.

This image depicts a man maybe in his late 50’s. He is wearing a sort of cheap-style suit and tie. He also has a very proud and smug look on his face. The picture is also in greyscale. The lighting appears to be bright and gets darker towards the bottom of the image.

The man is in a completely white background, which seems to bring out the colors of his suit. The photograph also seems to be underexposed but the greyscale makes the image lighter. The image has adequate resolution. The patterns on his jacket seem to confuse the human eye. The image is in focus.

This image is pleasing to look at, as the patterns contribute to this image. The point of view is at eye level looking at the man’s tie. The focal point would be his tie. The image fills the frame almost perfectly. The image crops off at the man’s waist and at the edges of the white background.

I believe that theme of this image is self-acceptance. The man looks like he has a lot of pride and joy in his head. This image reminds me of pictures of my parents when they were young. The pictures of them were filled with pride and joy. This image is very interesting to look at because it has a lot of depth.
